As I've mentioned on a previous post, without failure there's no success. Today, I feel as though The Break failed. Several of the articles were not handed in on time and were incomplete for the second week in a row, so I found myself hunting people down whether it be for their articles, images, or incomplete submission formats. It was very frustrating for me because I not only had to write my own article and the editors corner, but I had to edit everyone else's articles and write the newsletter. If my "team" lets me down, I feel as though I have to recompense for their missed work. Because If I don't, we let other people down. We let Carsten down, and we let our readers down. Being given almost complete autonomy over The Break is an honor, but as Stan Lee once said: "With great power comes great responsability" | I talked to Mr. Topf about what had occurred and we came up with some solutions to make The Break work better: 1. Each person in The Break will have a partner. These partners will be in charge of editing each others articles and giving each other feedback. 2. More of class time will be separated for peer editing, looking for new stories, and writing the stories for the upcoming week. Hopefully, the modifications that will be made will allow the publishing of next weeks articles to run smoothly! Check out the article I wrote this week! |
