I used to think a graphic designers job was very easy, today I realized it’s everything but easy. As part of my business's rebranding process, I focused on creating a new logo for my business, Gisella's Cupcake Factory. At first, I considered simply cha- | nging the colors of my original logo, but then I thought. If I really want to rebrand my business, I have to completely RETHINK my logo in the same way that I rethought my website. |
In simpler terms, if I want my business to have a
"FRESH" start, I need to have a KICK-A** logo.
"FRESH" start, I need to have a KICK-A** logo.
So I began by searching for pictures of other cupcake logos to use for inspiration. What I found was that almost every cupcake logo out there was pink and brown, probably because that’s the color that comes to | most people’s minds when they think of a cupcake. So yes, I jumped on the bag wagon and decided that my logo would also be pink! As I continued to search through logos, I came across this one logo: |
SIMPLE | CLASSY | CREATIVE |
It was exactly what I was looking for;
it was a KICK-A** logo.
it was a KICK-A** logo.
I know it seems like this couldn’t have taken more than an hour on Photoshop. And I agree, for an expert, it wouldn’t. But if you’re a newbie in both graphic design and Photoshop, and you’re a perfectionist like me, I can assure you that that hour will quickly become three or four. So if there are any graphic designers out there reading | this, you have all of my respect. Creating my logo gave me the opportunity to not simply realize how hard your job really is, but it gave me the basics of Photoshop, and it allowed me to understand the importance of choosing the right colors, symbols, and/or figures to have a positive representation of my business through my logo. |
